PROTEUS on Lake Raczynskie in Zaniemysl

Another stage of reclamation works on Lake Raczynskie in Zaniemysl, which began at the end of the first quarter of 2020, is slowly coming to an end. It involves tasks performed with the use of the comprehensive PROTE-fos method, including chemical blocking of phosphorus in water and sediment to minimize intensive water bloom. The other project works aimed at limiting the growth of phytoplankton using natural algistats in the form of biological barriers. The water quality in the lake and its tributaries has been constantly monitored, and the lake's bathymetry has been done. Thanks to PROTEUS and its crew, the bathing beach on Lake Raczynskie remained open throughout the summer season, and the water transparency has begun to improve. However, the PROTE team still has a lot of work to do as the key activities for the project are planned for the spring of 2021. Those of you who are interested in the subject of lake reclamation, and would like to see how PROTEUS works, are invited in the spring of 2021 to Lake Raczynskie, where you will be able to see PROTEUS at work.
It is worth emphasizing that some of the reclamation works are performed utilizing our patented, innovative two-module vessel PROTEUS. The PROTE-fos method, which is implemented with the use of the vessel, involves inactivating phosphorus directly in bottom sediment during its controlled resuspension triggered by compressed air. The surface module plays an important role in the process, as it is responsible for the movement of the entire system, and the solutions used in it allow for precise control of the operation of the underwater module, through which chemicals can be precisely dosed. The underwater module is also responsible for triggering a controlled resuspension of sediment and its oxygenation. This technology is for eutrophic water reservoirs with intense blooms of cyanobacteria. The author of the method is professor Ryszard Wisniewski (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun).
